1. Product Introduction

The FLY SB2040 V3 is a tool board developed by Guangzhou Magnesium-Lun Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. specifically for the VORON Stealthburner print head. Using this tool board, the complex wiring between the mainboard and the print head can be replaced with just four wires, optimizing the layout. The SB2040 is compatible with both stealthburner and afterburner. It is a tool board that integrates a CAN transceiver, RS232 transceiver, USB port, TMC2209 driver, LIS2DW accelerometer sensor, three controllable fans, and other functions. This tool board is compatible with Klipper and RRF firmware.

1.1 Product Features

  • Reserved Boot button, allowing users to enter Boot mode via Type-C to update firmware.
  • Supports Klipper firmware and RRF firmware.
  • Supports CAN mode, RS232 mode, and RRF CAN mode.
  • In RS232 mode, it offers higher transmission rates and stronger stability. In CAN mode, it supports CAN expansion with a reserved CAN expansion interface.
  • Temperature sensor support: Onboard MAX31865 chip, compatible with PT100 and PT1000 temperature sensors.
  • Onboard LIS2DW accelerometer sensor and LDC1612 sensor.
  • Reserved RGB interface, onboard 2209 driver, supports various leveling sensors such as klicky, Voron Tap, PL08n, etc.
  • Supports 12-24V voltage, 15A current input, enlarged heater cartridge port with a rated current of 10A.

1.2 New Features

  • Supports switching between Klipper CAN mode, RS232 mode, and RRF CAN mode.
  • Added RS232 mode, offering higher transmission rates, stronger stability, and simpler debugging.
  • Added RRF CAN mode, can be switched to function as an RRF tool board, enhancing applicability.
  • Added CAN expansion interface for easy connection of additional CAN devices.
  • Added termination resistor DIP switch; the 120R termination resistor can be selected via the switch without needing jumpers.
  • Added 1-meter power/signal cable, designed with twisted-pair for stronger anti-interference performance.

  • MCU: Raspberry Pi RP2040, Dual-core ARM Cortex-M0+ @133MHz.
  • Connection interface uses XT30 (2+2) connector supporting 15A current, peak 30A.
  • Firmware: Reprap/Klipper.
  • Input Voltage: DC 12V-24V.
  • Logic Voltage: DC 3.3V.
  • Onboard Sensors: LIS2DW and optional LDC1612 and MAX31865.
  • Heater Cartridge Interface: Heater (HEAT0).
  • Expansion Interfaces: RGB, EndStop, PT100/PT1000, XH2.54-2P CAN port.
  • Fan Interfaces: One DC fan, two DC fans or PWM fans.
  • Motor Driver: Onboard TMC2209.
  • Temperature Sensors: One 100K NTC or PT1000 (TH0), one optional PT100/PT1000.
